Hi, Eric. That is an interesting question. I have never checked that information. I'm not sure how I could do so with any confidence. I'm not aware of any data, nor any attempts to gather such data. I definitely do not have the ability to run those numbers.

I still remain pretty convinced that the number people actually playing free games is far fewer than the number of people playing purchased games. But, you're right, there's no way to verify. It's just a hunch.

BloggerX, stop posting. Your comments will be deleted, as will all other posters' comments regardless of content, if I cannot determine you're posting under your real name. Obviously, you are not doing so. Hence, I delete them.

You'll note that my "sycophants" use their real names when they have something to say here. Those are the rules of my blog.

Chello!

Matt, in response to your question about charity donations, Gary's favorite charity was the Christian Children's Fund, and his family has asked that donations be made there.

I will say that your comments are a tad harsh. Butthen I'm a Texan. ;)

Have you ever checked the correlation between number of people who play non-free games and the number of people who play free games?

Obviously, there will be more people who OWN free games, but the playerbase may not be smaller, and in fact might be bigger as well. It's worth a look, if you've got the ability to run those numbers.

This is, bar none, the best 'rpg' that I have ever seen. I have been doing this since 76 or 77, and the further I went, the more I played and ran games in spite of the system. This game, and I mean just the game alone, actually, truly really really multiplies creativity instead of being some more or less clunky thing you have to work around so people will play a real game. Because it is so stick/chess simple, it is eminently flexible, useful and durable. It is so easy to house rule. I did not see any way to more conventionally develop the characters, but never fear, a method was easily discovered. Want to make things more tense or bullet time? Do the call less than a full hand at a time.
I even play solo, using bits of another system I won't mention here out of consideration.
You want to get really weird? Magic, vampires etc. are mostly a matter of interpretation and narration.
Thank you very much. I can't recommend this game highly enough.

The play is indeed the thing, though some also enjoy analysing it and sharing the general trends they see in it. Some further enjoy discussing roleplaying in context of random fields of interest, but, in the end, that musing is provoked by actual play, even if a clear connection is not possible.

I enforce it by deleting anything that I'm skeptical of. That means some posts that are "real" get zapped. Not much of a nightmare!

It's your sandbox, your rules. Obviously, on this blog, I use my name. I have known for sometime that's what you prefer. Other places, I do not use my name, for various reasons.
One thought that came to mind, how do you 'enforce' this rule? Today I'm Lisa today, but on Monday I could be Tyler. Sounds like a moderation nightmare about to begin.
2 pennies, for what they'll buy, which as it turns out, isn't much these days. ;D
